Your first steps as a viewer

Welcome, Vanillo viewer! Thank you for your interest in watching videos on our site! We're glad you chose Vanillo out of every other streaming service out there looking for your viewership.

NOTE: This article assumes you have already completed the full sign-up process for Vanillo, including creating your first profile. If you haven't done so yet, see "How do I sign up for Vanillo?".

With that out of the way, let's learn how to get started as a viewer on Vanillo!

1) Browse the homepage

Browsing our homepage is the best way to find new content! Currently, you'll find recommendations based on videos you have previously watched and liked, but in the future, more types of videos will be shown, such as Vanillo Staff Picks, videos that we believe are pretty cool.

Either way, especially on a new account, the recommendation algorithm will suggest all kinds of content for you to check out, so start there.

2) Like videos and follow creators that you like

The best way to tune our recommendation algorithms to find you more videos that you'll like is to like videos that you like and follow creators that you like. This tells our algorithm that videos like the ones you've liked are best to show you more of. Use this to your advantage!

Following creators will notify you when they upload a new video if you enable push notifications, and will also show their new videos in the Feed tab (coming soon). The creator you followed will also show up in your sidebar under "Following" to allow you to quickly access creators' profiles from anywhere on the site.

3) Use the Search bar at the top of the page to find specific content

Of course, the best way to find a specific video, type of video or creator is to use the Search bar at the top of the page. Type any query, such as a creator, a video, etc and suggestions will appear underneath the bar if our system has any suggestions for that query. You may click any of those suggestions at any time to see results instantly for that suggestion, or otherwise type your query and hit Enter or Return on your keyboard to conduct the search.

We're always working on making search suggestions better as our content library expands, and more types of content may become searchable in the future, such as playlists.
